I’m not going to claim to know enough about international relationships or military strategies to suggest a path forward, but I think like many, I just hope something can happen to change the rut we seem to be stuck in. I’m afraid of waiting to see what happens if someone doesn’t take preemptive action to protect this country, and region, from this growing threat.

Between the time I wrote this and now, Kim has announced that he plans to continue lobbing missiles into the Pacific, and most of the key regional players in the UN seem uninterested prevention that doesn’t leave Japan defenseless.
