Silly, right? But no! Finding the serial number in a Dell laptop is quite the task, but don’t worry. I made sure to search for every single way to get your serial number — not only the most obvious way. “It’s at the bottom of your laptop.” Yeah, how did you figure that out, Sherlock?

All right, let’s get started!

Here are three ways to do this:

  1. The best place to find your Dell laptop’s serial number is on the bottom of the laptop.
  2. If you can’t find the serial number on the bottom of your laptop, you can also find it in the BIOS.
  3. If you still can’t find your serial number, you can contact Dell customer support for help.

The best place to find your Dell laptop’s serial number is on the bottom of the device.

Yes, I know. But I still have to make sure that you did this properly.

The serial number is a 10 or 11-digit code consisting of letters and numbers. The code is printed on a small label on the bottom of your laptop.

Sorry! I couldn’t get a zoomed in picture, so I had to take this one from Dell.

If you can’t find the serial number on the bottom of your laptop, you can also find it in the BIOS.

This is the best choice honestly, because after a few years you probably can’t even read the label code printed on the bottom of the laptop.

To get in the BIOS restart your computer and press F2 when the Dell logo appears on the screen. The BIOS settings should now be displayed.

Then navigate to the System Information tab and locate the Serial Number field. The serial number will be listed here. You can now close the BIOS settings and restart your computer.

If you still can’t find your serial number, you can contact Dell customer support for help.

Last but not least, seriously contact support if you need it. Don’t try some shenanigans when you can just send an email and wait.
