The Persistence Of Laundry
— Where are the car keys?
— Behind the potatoes.
— Why?
— Because I have to remember to go to the bank today.
— How does that help you remember?
— My grandmother used to hide her money in with the potatoes.
— What if you did not remember you had to go to the bank?
— I would get the second set of car keys.
— Where are they?
— I don’t know.
— Then how would you find them?
— I don’t have to find them, since I know the first set of keys are in with the potatoes.
— But if you didn’t remember you had to go to the bank, how would you find the keys?
— You already asked me that question.
— But you didn’t answer it.
— Sure I did, but now the bank is closed so I am going to do some laundry instead.
— Oh. Okay. Of course, that makes perfect sense.
— . . .
— . . .
— Hey! I found the second set of car keys. They were in the laundry. I just remembered that was the other thing I needed to do today.
