Europe Business Assembly Director Ivan Savvov Gave A Keynote Speech in the UN Headquarters

We all live in a world where information is crucial. It’s the best way to create and promote anything that can only come to mind. Due to media and the internet, it can impact almost any person in the world. “He who holds the information holds the power”.
However, if we consider them closely, the issues that the media faces can be related to 2 opposite statements: freedom of speech and fighting with fake news.
Freedom of speech abuse becomes the reason for disclosing unchecked, distorted by intention and often false and misleading facts that are used for manipulation and for pursuing personal goals.
At the same time, the implementation of censorship and limitations to freedom of speech proves to be harmful to diligent reporters and common people.
On 28 July 2019 in the Palace of Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, there was a presentation and discussions about strategies to fight disinformation and fake news. The public hearings were dedicated to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and were held on the initiative of Europe Business Assembly and EBA Global loyalty program. The special platform to identify and fight with fake news was launched.
The Fake News Issue
The launch of the Europe Business Assembly platform to fight fake news can reach as follows:
- To help the global community to decrease disinformation and fake news, that is based on the anonymous or unchecked sources.
- To educate the public and journalists about negative outcomes caused by fake news in order to develop better living.
- To offer assistance to fake news attack victims by providing them a transparent platform to speak up trustworthy facts and reliable data.
In 2018 Europe Business Assembly received a special consultative status with the United Nations. One of the priority tasks of the organization with this status is facilitating companies and institutions around the world in their struggle with the fabricated data.
