First World vs Third World innovation

Just playing devil’s advocate — Are you bothered by the fact that someone from a third world country is solving a (seemingly) first world problem (or maybe a non-problem)?

iPhone 7 is the first waterproof phone from Apple. What would you say if iPhone 8 was announced, by building over this capability and being able to float in water? I can imagine Tim Cook saying that “Don’t worry if you dive in a pool / lake and forget that the phone was in your pocket. It will just float up gently and without any damage!”. The entire auditorium gives Apple a standing ovation after the ad finishes playing! 😜

By itself, I do think the innovation sounds lame. But trust a big MNC to buy his patent and market the next phone thus.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
