Vivian Qu is a skilled and curious professional operating within the biotech venture space in San Francisco, California. Her ultimate career goal as the founder of ViaeX Technologies is to contribute positively to sustainable design and product life cycles through advancing the biotech and material science space. She hopes to promote the advancement of social values as a society, care for individual livelihood and rights, and protect individual privacy by using technology to improve our overall quality of life. She defines her focus as a healthy balance of globalism and national self-sufficiency within the technologies, supply chains, and infrastructure industries. In 2016, straight out of grad school, Vivian Qu founded her material science company, ViaeX Technologies Inc. Originally, she sought funding from Venture Capitalists before moving into a B2B space, where the business has been operating ever since. Vivian and her team are working hard to accelerate the global transition towards the use of sustainable materials. Through ViaeX Technologies, Vivian is also the CPO at O2 Brands/ORA Nano Mask, overseeing the team. Alongside her work with ViaeX Technologies, Vivian Qu is also a Domain Expert with Pascal Capital, a role she’s held since 2018, vetting investment decisions, sourcing information, and working on private research projects. Previously in her career, Vivian has worked with Moore’s Cancer Center, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd., the New York Stock Exchange, and IndieBio San Francisco. Throughout her career, Vivian Qu has already received recognition for her work as a recipient of multiple awards. She holds the Big Ideas UC Berkeley Energy and Alternative Resources Award, the Dow Chemical SISCA Award, the Clinton Global Initiative Award, the Fung Fellowship Award, and the Amgen Scholar Award, as well as earning the Ledell Family Endowed Research Scholarship. Additionally, she was recognized by Business Insider for her work at ViaeX as a graduate of the University of California. Vivian Qu’s academic career began at the University of California in San Diego, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nanotechnology Engineering for Biology and Material Science with a minor in Humanities. From there, she enrolled at the University of California in Berkeley, earning her Master’s Degree in Material Science and Engineering from the Fung Institute of Engineering Leadership. In 2018, Vivian enrolled in Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England. Here, she studied in the Oxford Blockchain Strategy Programme, which she completed a year later. Vivian has developed expertise in several areas across her work, including molecular biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, laboratory skills, cell culture, and data analysis, among others. She was published in Nature Nanotech 2015 on Nanoparticle biointerfacing via human platelet membrane cloaking, and she has also written on Chitosan Bioplastic as well as Nano Fiber Filter.
