Pavithra Aravindan, the points you highlighted on inflicting pain on a user to navigate through automated responses during emergency is a worst nightmare.
However, the point of technology leading to unemployment is debatable!
An example i would like to quote is in Banking domain, The ATMs. The need to add an ATM on every street came out of the pain to stand in lengthy queues and reducing the Bank Tellers load. From one perspective, it created more jobs for maintaining ATM infra, Security, Refilling and of course IT infra.
One interesting fact is that if you walk into any Bank you will still have to wait in queues. i.e the need for bank staff is still on the rise!
