Products are not just products but experiences, modulated by our expectations and values. The “value” of a product can be increased to support any increased costs if it matches our values! This is the difference between economists perceptions and a behavioral economists perception of human behavior! The former are theoretical and would argue against value based capitalism. The later reflect the real world as we observe it.
