As a parent, one of the most painful things in life is to be forced to offer to your kids an education you know is not going to help them. And this is how most of the schools are today. Watch this video and you can realize how big this problem is — for both parents and kids. It is impressive to see the kid’s reactions when they realize that they are not shaped in the direction where the future is moving.

My partner has dedicated her life to education and it wasn’t too difficult to pair with me because I also had this in the back of my head for many years. Because I have two kids, I had to do something to change their education. So here we are: me and Kristen creating Galileo.

To give you a little bit of context here, there are more than 3B people connected to the Internet today, making the world more connected than ever. The entrepreneurial spirit is needed everywhere, and a traditional school can’t fix that need. Online learning is growing exponentially; MOOC platforms are reaching more than 100 mil students last year. Still, the personalization is not yet there. Even though all of this is currently happening, there are so many things we can do to dramatically improve education. We only have to start building it.

At Galileo, improving the way we learn is our mission. To achieve this mission, we are looking for passionate and forward-thinking teachers willing to join us. Together, we change the way our kids learn and get ready for life.

Platforms like Khan Academy are marvelous: they are offering world-class levels of education to anyone from anywhere in the world. That’s why on our platform solutions like Khan Academy will be the building blocks for our curricula. It’s like building on the giants’ shoulders: we only have to add the level of personalization and the human touch we think is the most needed for students.

There is a lot we can say about this subject, but if you are a teacher and if you like our mission at Galileo, we want to talk with you. And if you’d like to work with us, here is the minimum set of requirements you should have in order to be a teacher on Galileo. All of them very important for us, so here they are:

You should be willing to embrace the technology, and to create and work in a global environment in which you will interact with other teachers and students from all over the world. We want you to be obsessed — or at least passionate — about the topic you are teaching, no matter if your passion is related to the core curricula or it’s just something completely different you pursued on your own. Working with us means first to ignite the passion and curiosity of every student. And remember, you are not here just to deliver knowledge: you should also be ready to stimulate, mentor, and engage our students.

If these values resonate with you, we want to have you on board. Please get in touch with us via email or twitter. In the case you know someone with this profile, please share this post with them.
