VO4TA: Read Every Damn Word On The Page

From the Best of VO4TA

I could just stop there and it would cover an entire post.

But I’ll elaborate…

I’ll tell you where I’m at with this topic. No matter what the script is, I’ve read it. And depending on what time it is in my workday, I might even have heard the script aloud ten times or more.

And it’s evident from the way you read, what mistakes you make and especially what you ask me, if you took the time to read all of the words on the paper.

Don’t ask me if an audition is for radio or television if it says TV VO in the upper left hand corner. Don’t ask me which character you are reading for if your character name is immediately next to the direction. And don’t act offended when I point out the laugh you didn’t put in when it said “laughing” right above your line.

This lack of attention then leaves me at a disadvantage from helping you make your audition (translate: your opportunity to prosper) the best it can be. Because my focus is not on your work — it’s on the fundamental practice you couldn’t be bothered to do.

It’s the simplest and easiest thing to do in your own favor.
