Smoke and Mirrors
If you are a major media outlet, whose programming content today centers around The New York Times opinion piece, you are doing your viewers and the country a disservice. Moreover, you are playing directly into the hands of the president’s game.
At critical points during the campaign and this presidency, Trump and the Trump administration utilize distraction as a means to control the media narrative. The news cycle resets with each well-timed tweet or West Wing gossip article. How quickly you forget about the estimated three thousand deaths in Puerto Rico and the nearly five hundred migrant children, separated from their families, who remain in U.S. custody.
The contents of the NYT op-ed contain nothing the American people don’t already know or have not ascertained. Do not give the author, or the president, the attention they seek. Focus on critical journalism the American people need from you.
If facts are first - get off the sidelines.
If this is who you are - be better, #bebest.
