VOI Technology appoints three senior hires as it gears up for expansion and product development
Stockholm, 17 April 2019 — VOI Technology, the Swedish micromobility company, has announced three senior hires as it continues to expand rapidly across Europe.
The Stockholm-based company, which is on track to launch in 18 cities by the end of May, has hired a Chief Technology Officer, a Head of Business Intelligence & Analytics and a new Head of PR.
Mikael Söderberg joined the company as CTO, from Luxoft (NYSE:LXFT) where he was global head of R&D for the automotive line of business, which is developing products such as the BMW ReachNOW car sharing service and the revolutionary 2019 Mercedes A-Class Digital Cockpit system — MBUX. Mikael has spent two decades in the automotive electronics and software industry creating breakthrough products and technologies with companies such as Daimler, Volkswagen, Intel and Nvidia. He has held numerous strategic advisory positions and remains a strategic advisor to the Office of the CTO at LG Electronics.
Björn Idren, a startup & business intelligence veteran who previously built up the business intelligence teams and functions at Klarna and Ericsson has joined VOI as Head of Business Intelligence and Analytics. Before joining VOI, Björn was Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics at Soundtrack Your Brand — the exclusive provider of Spotify for Business.
Kristina Hunter Nilsson also joins the fast-growing e-scooter company as Head of Public Relations. Multi-lingual Kristina has decades of experience in public relations and communications strategy for international consumer businesses, including Heineken, TomTom and TeliaSonera. Most recently she worked at Dutch startup Takeaway.com (AMS.TKWY).
Fredrik Hjelm, CEO and co-founder of VOI Technology, said: “We have been assembling a great team to make sure that we achieve our goals of being the fastest growing e-scooter sharing company in Europe and the most responsible. Mikael, Björn and Kristina are all extremely experienced at building European-wide businesses with great consumer appeal and understand that the way VOI grows is just as important as the rate at which VOI expands.”
VOI Technology’s latest hires comes hot on the heels of its recent fundraising activity, which saw the micromobility startup raise $30m from Vostok New Ventures alongside Balderton Capital, Project A, Creandum, and Raine Ventures. The fundraising last month brought the total raised by the company to $83m and meant that the company will be able to launch in cities across Austria, Italy, Germany, Norway and France in the coming months, while continuing to invest in its product and team.
