May Update 2 — Quick Update
Over the past few weeks we’ve been busy assembling printers and rewriting the software. Everyone has been really focused so we’re keeping this update short.
We have the majority of printer parts at our office in Canada now, but we are waiting on heated plates, probe PCBs, a re-order of gears, and a re-order of extruded bridges.
We’re also building out a better inventory and QA tracking system. As we get closer to our large batch it is going to be important to have all the right tools and processes already in place.
Our R&D team needed a way to process the signal from a pressure sensor so that we could display, measure and record data within a specific region of interest. Rather than buying the $2500 sensor add-on, we decided to make our own.
We designed a signal processing PCB that we could connect to an Arduino UNO, letting us focus in on the interesting parts of the signal. Using the V-One we were able to print, assemble, and test the first version of the prototype, diagnose a design error, and print a new functional board, all in one afternoon!
By the end of the day we were back to running experiments and collecting data.
Troy and Jesus have been busy rewriting the code behind the scenes to eliminate many bugs found in the first release. So far the new software is able to dispense conductive ink and dispense solder paste. Reflow is nearly ready, and key functions like pause and resume are up next.
Sales & Marketing Update
Our web development agency has launched a staged version of our new website! The site is undergoing tweaks, and will be launching very soon. Outside of this, our sales & marketing team is busy developing leads and selling more printers.
If you have any questions let us know in the comments.
That’s all for today. See you in two weeks!
