Meet David Friess

David Friess
3 min readAug 18, 2019

David is conservative, Christian, and an Air Force veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm. He’s also a father who desperately wants his children to inherit a state and region better than what they are today. His life of service tells a tale of fighting for others — and he won’t stop now.

David grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River in Chester — the home of Popeye. He met his wife there and they both graduated from Chester High School. The couple now raise their two young children in Red Bud and attend church in Rockwood. David is a member of the Red Bud VFW, Randolph County Bar Association and enjoys coaching his son’s youth sports teams.

David has built his life in Southern Illinois and has served his country abroad.

Straight out of high school, David enlisted in the Air Force and served as a C-141 crew chief out of Charleston, South Carolina. By 1990, David found himself on numerous missions aboard the C-141 flying into the theater of Desert Storm as a flight engineer. After a stint with Delta Airlines as an aircraft mechanic, David put himself through college, earning a degree in Criminal Justice from Mercer University and his Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School.

David is looking to serve his last tour of duty — in Springfield — and the new battlefield is Illinois. It’s career politicians versus us. Unfortunately, the political class has been winning the battles — driving up our taxes, driving out jobs, racking up our debt, and passing a radical left wing agenda.

It’s time we had a conservative fighter to hear our concerns, be our voice, and fight for us.

David is that conservative fighter.

Lower Taxes

The tax burden on the average taxpayer in Illinois is outrageous. One of the worst in the nation. Yet, the state doesn’t pay their bills, they have over $200 billion in pension liability and the politicians keep coming back for more. The insanity must stop. David Friess will fight to get property tax relief, roll back the Madigan income tax hike of 2017, and defeat the progressive income tax ballot question in 2020.

More Jobs

The future viability of this state and region is dependent on growing our economy and creating good paying jobs. Illinois must become competitive with surrounding states by becoming more business friendly instead of being openly hostile to job creators.

Less Spending

Every family knows that you cannot spend more than you take in. Why doesn’t Springfield learn a lesson from us? David Friess will fight for less spending and will never vote for an unbalanced budget — ever.

Term Limits

Public office should be a service — not a career. Cronyism and special interest favor are bred by longevity of those in power. We need new blood, new ideas, and new energy. David will vote to enact Term Limits on all legislators and state constitutional offices in Illinois.

Christian Values

David is 100% Pro-Life and will always defend the sanctity of life. David knows that all life is precious and created in the image of a God who knows us and loves us. Life must be protected at every stage — from the moment of conception until birth. David will also steadfastly defend religious liberty, a core tenant of our nation’s founding.

Pro-Second Amendment

The right to bear arms is under assault in Illinois by Pritzker and Chicago liberals. David will never vote to infringe upon the absolute right of all people to own and carry firearms.

The End of Mike Madigan’s Reign

It’s pretty simple — David Friess will vote to fire Mike Madigan in January 2021. Current 116th State Rep. Nathan Reitz will. The choice is clear.
