Last month, Voto Latino hosted its 7th annual Our Voices event, a reception held during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner weekend to celebrate diversity in media, but also to uplift the need for more diverse voices to be included.

See Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, MSNBC’s Tamron Hall and our co-founder Rosario Dawson talk about importance

America has always been a country of vast cultures and experiences, yet communities of color continue to be underrepresented across government, technology, business, and yes, media. True diversity is about inclusion in front of the cameras and behind it, too.

For Latinos, the numbers are daunting. Latinos make up 17 percent of the population, yet have made up about 2 percent of representation in media for the past 30 years.

This is why Voto Latino and Fuse are bringing back Crash the Parties, a nationwide search for two aspiring millennial reporters to cover the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Crash the Parties is such an excellent opportunity to anyone who is interested in politics or journalism.

The winners get an all expenses paid trip to the cover the conventions on the ground with their own camera crew and a $5,000 prize.

All of the issues that are being discussed and debated, the economy, immigration, student debt, affordable health care, reproductive rights, are issues that matter to all Americans, but we need young, diverse voices there on the ground asking the candidates what they will do to address them.

What would you ask the presidential candidates? Submit your video today let us why you should Crash the Parties!
