ON the other side of this farm, across from a small graveyard, is where the boyhood home of James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickock once stood. He grew up in Troy Grove, Illinois where his father, William A. Hickock, ran a store and later farmed. His father was against slavery and his homes served as stops on the Underground Railroad in Illinois.
