What is a Modern Data Platform and why you need one

How do you get the most from your data without spending more time and effort on managing the platform needed for the data?

The “Modern Data Platform” is a set of best practices which describe technologies and processes to effectively use and manage data, while reducing the effort and complexity of managing the platform itself. A Modern

Data Platform consists of :

  1. Data ingestion and orchestration, absorb any data from any source, and perform basic validation
  2. Data Storage, retain all the data needed in an accessible, cost effective way;
  3. Processing Engines, Compute power to transform and analyse the data;
  4. Data Modelling, Data & algorithmic models providing insight, understanding to drive decisions;
  5. Presentation, Visualisation and interaction with the data and models, including sharing and collaboration;
  6. Governance & Control, Securing the data and the platform, controlling changes. Recording lifecycle of the data and models. Monitoring availability and performance.

The Platform is modular, using the most appropriate tool for the data. It scales to meet demand while optimising cost.

Usually it is components from a suite of integrated technologies, which assemble like building blocks using a common set of standards based on an organisations Use Case requirements
