Nice imaginary app. It’s funny, unique, and totally applicable in today’s society.
Have you considered using algorithms as a concept to provide a contrast between what is “authentic” and what is “programmable” and how that might conflict with each other?
Now, going back to your question about what would my news feed look like if it was “original” or “authentic.” Personally, I don’t think my news feed can ever be original considering it is filled with rehased content that other people share within my network. If I wanted a raw expression of content, I would probably fill it up with a bunch of art work and poems and even culinary videos about cooking tutorials. I’m a visual person — and to me — that is what authenticity is — it’s when you make something.
I wonder why people go through “writers block.” Why do creatives get stuck? What inspires us? If we had an app to create the inspiration for us, can it ever be authentic? The irony in your app is funny (in a good way). I always get stuck when I’m trying to write a response or comment, so a two word response like “that’s funny!” will do.
If we delegate the responsibility of creative writing to an app, how would that compromise our ability to communicate? Do you think “generated texts” is a precursor to your app? (i.e. when you text someone and your iPhone fills in the next word for you)
AUTOFILL! That’s the word.
