An Investing App for Real Estates

Project Summary

Analyzing data about lands and real estate can be a long and tiring task which can also be followed by misinterpreting data, which is constructed after hours of analysis on different statistics belonging to any peculiar estate. We are inclined to create an application that can provide a comfortable and definite experience. This app will allow people to attain credible information regarding any Land Properties Like Plots, House, Rentals etc.

Research Goal

Our team desires to create an essential digital product available for everyone which can provide credible information about Real Estates and can also be used as an investing tool.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Personas

We wanted to form a deeper understanding of our users’ goals, needs, experiences, and behaviors. So, we created 3 personas for each of our user segments. They were based on user interviews and surveys, and we kept updating them throughout the project as we gathered more data. We used these personas whenever we wanted to step out of ourselves and reconsider our initial ideas.

  • We decided to use personas as our understanding to build the User Experience for this Application Equal for every kind of person that we believed will most likely use our App.
  • We researched the kind of customers who use Investing apps on a daily basis and also a general category of people such as a Tech Savvy and a luddite.
  • The 3 Personas we considered were a Tech Savvy-who preferred an aesthetic UI disregarding the complexity of the Application. Secondly, a Luddite-who might face trouble in general using apps of any kind and preferred a step by step guiding process as a walkthrough. Lastly, An investor, Who liked our idea of sending newsletters about the trending Real Estates and Suggested us to create a Payment Option to make transactions faster.
  • We took the 3 Personas to observe and make changes in order to build a satisfactory User Experience
  • The Making of all the different types of page used in our app were built considering the obtained information from these personas.
User Personas

Interviews

During the ideation phase of the project, I conducted user interviews to build new personas and to inform the design. Together with the team, we prepared an interview script with 15 open-ended questions, focusing on our target audiences’ values, motivations, and daily routines. In 4 days, I recruited and interviewed 5 users remotely. We referenced the user interview findings throughout the entire design process.

  • We wanted to know some general interests of our audience regarding the kind of domain our App is going to be about Like, Do They On A Regular Basis Try To Attain Information Related to Real Estate And Are They Using Any Kind Of Medium To Do The Same
  • We interviewed total 10 people, some of those interviews were face to face and some of them were done remotely
  • There were many interesting answers which we discovered during our interviews like, a newsletter can be a nuisance to some people even if the frequency is low, and there are some individuals who do not trust technology completely and would rather hear some advice from their friends and relatives
  • We used our findings to adjust the UI of the app to make it look attractive as well as easy to understand.

Surveys

After the project kickoff, we defined our research strategy and objectives. Understanding the target audience and their challenges were our priority. First, we built an online survey and shared it in various relevant communities. In just a few days, we received 10 submissions. Based on these, we identified 3 common pain points, which lead us to the next step.

  • We used a multiple choice question(MCQ) Survey including some basic question regarding investing and their use of technology in the same
  • there were total 10 responses with some unique and common answers
  • We discovered that more than half of the people do not use any kind of website or app for investing in Real Estate and the ones who do cannot figure out the proper way to do so
  • Our findings didn’t bring out any concrete changes to the UI but it did change the flow of providing information to the User.
The Use of Tech in modern day Investment

UI Design

Once the usability issues were resolved, I moved on to design the final screens in Figma. My goal was to create a visual identity that’s aligned with the brand’s values and message, which is: “Simplicity is Key”. Also, I’ve checked the competition and took a deep dive into my catalog of references for inspiration.

  • We followed a Fresh style with a glimpse of professionalism to balance out the interest of our Audience.
  • We create a very low fidelity design while doing the UI part but some references were taken for preparing layouts of a few pages.
  • I Focused mainly on the IOS platform at first and created designs following their guidelines.
  • We created a simple yet aesthetic design followed by a professional layout to satisfy every kind of user we found during our research.
