National award winning Malayalam movie “Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal” (2000) directed by Sathyan Anthikad and starring Jayaram, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Kavya Madhavan among others.

Its a story of two people falling in love, love lost and found again. Gopan (Jayaram) is presently working as a petrol pump attendant along with his son. There Celin (Kavya Madhavan) falls in love with him. When he realises the seriousness of her love, he goes flashback and reveals that his wife Asha Lakshmi (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) is still alive and they are separated but not divorced.

Its a story of Abhiman, played by Amitabh Bachhan and Jaya Bachhan where she becomes more famous than him and that leads to jealousy and inferiority complex. That is played out majorly with emotions on top of the fact that he was always a small time videographer who fell in love with a rich girl who had aspirations to a cultural career.

When a kuchipudi dancer Maya Verma (Bhanupriya) comes to their village and recognizes the talent of Asha Lakshmi she gains prominence in the dancing world and gets invited to various events. But that sets off jealousy and insecurity in Gopan and he leaves with his son, ostensibly to allow her to carry on with her career.

But the reality is otherwise, so it ends in a happy note. Jayaram has done a good role and so has Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Kavya Madhavan is passable. Other minor characters have all done a good job. The writing is very powerful and Sathyan Anthikad does a good job of navigating the plot beautifully. There is not a dull moment in the movie. IMDB 5/10
