Technology’s Next Big Wave-Virtual Reality

With the advent of newer technologies human life has completely revolutionised and there is no area which is untouched from technology these days. One such technology is virtual reality. Virtual reality is no new term as many may be familiar to it but to know what exactly virtual reality is, keep reading.

Virtual reality coins about for more than 70 years but virtual reality came into limelight in late 1980’s and 1990’s.It is hard to say who is the father of Virtual reality but there are many people who contributed to Virtual Reality. For example Morton Heilig produced the first “3D film” and viewer felt that he was a part of film i.e. it provided virtual experience.

Under virtual reality, using software a virtual environment is created such that we experience that we are really present over there. To create such environment special head mounted display (HMD) and gloves which receive input from computer. This technology has been popularised few years back and has become comparatively cheaper and easy to implement. Applications of virtual reality is found in many areas like entertainment, sports, medicine, architecture etc.

There are various types of virtual reality like fully immersive, non-immersive, collaborative and web-based.

Virtual reality comes into role where implementation of an idea in real life is expensive or risky like flight simulators etc. Like everything else VR also has some cons like the equipments required are expensive and we can’t move by our own like we do in real world.

But yes it won’t be wrong to say that Virtual reality is the next big thing in technology and is about to revolutionize various industries in future.
