Actually, I started them accidentally. A colleague and I often took a walk in the park to discuss things. When I was later given a small team, I trialled the concept of walking meetings for our regular 1:1 with my team members. I had set aside 15 mins with each team member and a quick walk on a short route in the park was sufficient for that. It was a novel concept for the team but after the first meeting, they requested it every time because we could get through all the planned conversations/updates in fresh air and in a relaxed yet personal atmosphere. I felt that walking meetings often allowed us to think of the same subject differently as we were in a different environment and therefore exposed to different stimuli.
