Travel With VR, From The Comfort Of Your Couch

When VR latest technology and augmented reality hit the market, and VR headsets and devices started making headlines, it was speculated that the tech giants in the industry wouldn’t waste much time in adopting them in their services. They weren’t wrong. Tech giant Google was one of the very first companies to actively take up VR in their projects and announce the launch of various products based on VR. Taking the same legacy forward, they recently unveiled their latest online venture, that of a mythical tour that takes VR travelers on a journey through the magical land that is Italy. The tour proved to be an immersive experience for travelers due to the extremely well-designed device Google’s VR Cardboard which is simply a foldable and affordable cardboard viewer.
The tour was modeled on the legendary, The Grand Tour of Italy and explored four of the great cities of Italy, Venice, Palermo, Sienna, and Rome. This was, however, just a glimpse into the magical world VR has in store for us. As per VR tech blogs, if VR is properly harnessed and effectively implemented, it has the potential to do much more. Travel will never be the same. For all the wanderlusts out there, this tech can soon become they’re go-to for all those locales that seem out of their reach. The best part? It has already begun!
Thomas Cook Group, which is a travel agency, offers VR videos which contain immersive and exotic views of Singapore, Egypt, and many more travel destinations. Vegas VR offers an in-flight flying experience over the Strip. Talking of in-flight experiences, Qantas Airlines from Australia has teamed up with Samsung to give users an in depth experience of traveling in an airplane. There’s another more exciting option offered by Jaunt’s Home Turf series. It whisks you off in VR to adventure hotspots that adrenaline junkies swear by. Rock climbing in the Needles, or exploring waterfalls in Iceland, all of it is possible with a little bit of VR. Follow some of the VR tech news, and you’ll be acquainted better with these and many more exciting options.
The possibilities for VR travel are truly endless. It can’t be denied that it is after all simply a simulation, yet if we think of travelers, who perhaps can’t think of visiting a country simply because their budget doesn’t allow them to, or maybe they’re not free enough to devote that much time to travelling; it’s no less than a boon. And who knows, but as a random thought, if this trend keeps on improving over the next few years, and latest VR News keep coming, we might even be giving outer-space a visit in our headsets soon!
