Snowboarding has given me some of the most exciting emotions in life. And I want to share a brief history of changes since its inception to the present day.

What is a snowboard? This is the Board designed to the athlete could go down on her from the slope or the mountain. But you can go different ways, and therefore the design and materials of snowboarding is very diverse, but at the same time, they are flat boards with a sliding base with one hand and the mounts for the legs on the other. Also, everyone maroon has metal edging along the edge with which the athlete controls this equipment.

1929

Began the history of snowboarding from the slope of the mountain, which was made a kind of Jack Burkecom. During the descent he used wooden canvas, which was ruled by a rope. No one knows why he did it, and even more questions and leaves its solution is the action to register.

1939

Vern Wiklund showed the world a new invention which is called “bunker”. It consisted of a Board with pads for the feet. Also present were the straps, which serve as the mounts of the feet, and the Board itself was made of oak and had a significant bend. On the nose of this design is attached to a rope, which is like the reins, it was possible to control the “bunker”. After the first model was followed by 4 more modifications, which, unfortunately, in mass production were not included.

1965

This year, Sherman joined Poppen ski skids and installed the front mount with a rope. His invention he gave the name “snurfer”. Poppen patented invention and was soon given the right to produce “servery” company Brunswick.

1970

But the direct ancestor of the snowboard was the invention of Demetrius millowitsch — Board serfovoj form that had traces belonging to the skiing slalom and metallic piping along the edges.

1975

Dimitri milović was able to establish mass production of snowboards. Production facilities located in Utah and were here Board, which bore the logo of Winterstick. He also patented the shape of a snowboard, “dovetail”.

1977

Jack Barton begins to create a snowboard, the design of which would later be named after him.
In the same year, inventor Mike Olsen completed the establishment of their version of snowboarding, which he has improved the subsequent 7 years — all the time spent in College. By its end, he wasted no time, started GNU, which is specialized in the production of snowboards.

1979

The competition among serferov Jack Burton filed an application for participation on their own sports equipment, representing the Board with rubber mounts.

1980

At the time of the development of snowboarding was carried out in parallel by two companies — Burton and Winterstick. And they led to the idea to use in the development of production technology of Alpine skiing.

1983

At this time, there is a mount for a snowboard having a high back. Invention patented Jeff Grell and Louis Fornier.

1985

Three significant events occurred in 85. the First is a final guidance on skiing some of the largest companies Sims and Burton. They abandoned the surf oriented boards and started to provide a snowboard with metal edges. Second — I saw the light freestyle, which had a rounded tail. The third appeared first carving Board, developed by GNU.

2000

In the USA, snowboarding has become the most popular sport. He is ahead of downhill skiing, the growth rate of followers, which amounted to 51% a year against 6%. The total number of snowboarders in the United States was approximately 7 million. In the same year, the first Board started to appear on the CIS.

Conclusion

At the moment, snowboards have a large number of variations of forms and materials for different purposes and riding styles. Leading companies annually develop and improve existing mechanisms, improving the user’s interaction with the Board and bindings.
