About Global Auditions and Animation

Thank you for helping us make Summer Comiket 2023 an exciting event, whether you attended the event or supported us from your home 🙇♂️
For this “VSPO! Summer Comiket 2023”, just like during the previous Winter Comiket 2022, we had the pleasure of releasing two short animations:
- Promotional animated short for the start of our Global Auditions.
- Promotional animated short for the event “VSPO! School Festival”, taking place from October 31st to November 5th.
Since my previous blog post in which we announced our ambition to create a full-length anime, I received comments from some of you wondering why we haven’t been writing more blog posts. So, this time, I will summarize and write about our Global Auditions and Anime.
Firstly,
1. Global Auditions:
I understand that there might have been surprise, joy, and even concerns about our decision to expand VSPO! overseas so I would like to share my thoughts on this topic.
The reason for VSPO! to expand internationally is clear and simple: sharing what VSPO! has to offer (i.e.: the vision for the project) with more people and move forward together. We believe that this vision can resonate not only in Japan but also with people in the world.
Through our ongoing challenges and endeavors, we aspire to resonate with our audience, inspiring thoughts like, “Perhaps I should give it my best shot,” or “Maybe I’ll try something new.” This sentiment is foundational to the VSPO! project’s vision. At VSPO!, our members unite around a shared passion for “gaming.” Similarly to how musicians convey messages to their audience through music, we aim to spread our project’s vision to a wider audience using the universal languages of beloved games and esports.

To be honest, there are concerns about whether we will receive any applications from individuals who share that vision even if we open auditions (Even though that’s the purpose of auditions 🙇♂️). However, in order to get a full understanding of the applicants, it is important to measure our mutual compatibility, and we are open to discussions about various aspects of the audition.
While we understand that different countries have different cultures and varying perspectives on games, we believe we are prepared for this diversity. We look forward to welcoming members who can help us spread our values.
If there are challenges due to cultural differences or if things prove to be difficult, we might not debut immediately, and there’s even a possibility that there might not be a debut at all, so please keep that in mind. 🙇♂️ (We think it might take quite some time from the auditions, probably.)
VSPO! is not a platform that has seen numerous new member debuts each year in the first place. We’ve always believed in the potential of dedicated and honest members. So, we plan to take a steady and sincere approach, starting with auditions and hope to engage in conversations with local individuals along the way. 🐢
2. About the Animations:
This time, following Winter Comiket 2022, we took on the challenge of creating two animated shorts. Reiterating from last time, we are working with various creators and trying various things to see how members can shine differently in each work as we progress toward completing a full-feature anime.
Furthermore, this time, our members are trying their hand at voice acting. They took on tasks they’d never done before, and considering the tight shooting schedule and the unfamiliarity of the work, they did an incredible job.
The quality may not be top-notch as we are still new at it, but all our members are taking on this challenge with the aim of making an enjoyable piece for our audience and fans, so we sincerely hope you will all enjoy it…!
As for the progress of the full-feature anime, we hope to share updates at some point. We are steadily working on it, taking into account advice and feedback from many people.
While we do hope to share progress at some point, it might take over a year before we can do so. Thank you for your kind patience. 😌
Along with the audition short, our members also put their best efforts into the promotional short for our very first VSPO! solo event, “VSPO! School Festival”.
Following the collaboration with the Kanda shrine for our summer festival last year, we are working towards preparing this year’s event. As our first standalone, we are preparing a lot of surprises for everyone. Please look forward to it!
