HTML ,JavaScript , CSS and SQL/Unicode are a Standard.

REST is just the MEANS to HTTP (Pun is intended).

In last 20+ years the Standards (HTML, JavaScript etc.) have evolved and have been consistent with its core idea.

The browsers, web servers have implemented the standard with reasonable accuracy.

On the contrary technologies that are “not essential” but used (or rather with claims) to improve delivery have been extremely hyped, volatile and disruptive.

The community has studied, debated technologies that are “not essential” more than the actual Standard or the Business value delivered.

So much so that, the Business value and Standards have taken a back seat.

It is need of the hour to remind that the goal is to deliver Business value and not implement a “non essential” technology.
