I work in tech, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said, “The world needs artists and musicians, too!” (Usually to a dev group with zero aesthetic sense!) I started out as an art major (everyone in my family is artistic, so it wasn’t that tuff of a sell), but ended up pursing PoliSci because I’m a better writer/researcher than artist. Today, I consider myself more of a patron (mostly because I have too much respect for artists to consider myself one), and spend a lot of time dragging people to galleries and exhibitions rather than political rallys. Art advances the understanding of the human condition — it’s what separates us from animals — and I’m glad you decided to major in it!
