Basic info/backstory
BFF is a women backed collection that has been created to support women and non-binary people in getting their share of knowledge, opportunity and financial rewards in web3.

We’re here to empower a new age of friends who love crypto!

The founders have already launched their first project that was airdropped to whitelisted individuals, the name of the first collection is ‘BFF Friends Bracelets’, and was launched on February 2nd.

The Bracelet collection is used as a mint pass for the PFP collection, that is launching on the 21th of April. Other than that it will have access to future mints to both new projects and projects from partners.

Socials
About the twitter and discord, the twitter has 34.1K followers and it looks to have been built very organically. As you can see below, the twitter audit gave a 98% audit score, which is close to 100% real people.

Other than the twitter, the discord has 23K members and it looks to have a lot of bots in it. The discord has 3K people online out of the 23K, and this seems to be close to the average. I monitored it for a day and it shot up to max 3.5K. Not necessarily saying this is bad, but it doesn’t really matters, given the fact that only the BFF Bracelet holders will be able to mint. And I unfortunately don’t have access to the holder channels, so I can’t tell whether the activity there is solid or not.

The team
As always, I look at the teams to find some sort of safety in my mints. Not only does the team represent a lot about the work ethic and the vision, but also about how safe a mint will be. Obviously they already airdropped the first mint, and have been building since, so I don’t doubt that the mint will be safe as well.

Of course the minds behinds the project are the two founders, Brit Morin and Jamie Schmidt. Both of these women are very well known individuals in both web3 and the women empowerment side.

Brit Morin: a 36 year old woman with already 11 years of experience in entrepreneurship. Brit has had several companies already and looks to be mainly focused on educating people. Her latests start-up, Selfmade, is for example an educational platform and community to help women entrepreneurs. Other than her companies, has Brit also won a few awards, such as Forbes ’30 under 30' and she was listed as one of BBC’s 100 women!

Jamie Schmidt: a 44 year old entrepreneur that has already worked 22 jobs in her life. She launched her natural toiletries business, called Naturals. This started as a passion to use her creative thoughts and turned into something way bigger. Right now she works as an author and investor, and of course build BFF.

The art looks very good in my opinion too! It has some unique things and I like that the art is colorful, even though this doesn’t work good as a PFP in my opinion. Also the artist is quite known, her name is Jade Purple Brown.

Example of the art

Apart from the founders, the team is quite big, with a lot of moderators, community managers and social media directors. All things considered, I am very bullish on the team and I am close to 100% sure they know what they’re doing.

Future plans
For now the plans seem to be a private community for holders, access to future drops and events. Other than that the main goal for them seems to be educating new woman in the NFT/web3 space, by having some sort of scholarships/courses.

Speaking of the educational side, the team has already put plenty of effort in making educational content. On the website you find a page with quite some content to get started into both NFT’s and web3 in general. This content is free to watch and it’s a bridge to their community. Women can start with watching free content, and ultimately the goal is to find a great and knowledgeable community to help you further, which will be BFF.

Also they seem to be planning a BFF scholarship. This will likely consist of mostly NFT and web3 related content for BFF holders. This idea seems to be still in exploration, and community members will likely have a voice in this as well, which points them at a DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) idea.

Furthermore there will be some standard utility, such as discount codes for software, partnerships and additionally Facetiming with holders. Not anything too special, but certainly some fun things, and cool incentives such as the scholarship.

My expectations and opinion
After reading through almost everything of this project, I think it will perform well. The bracelet collection sitting at a comfortable 1.6 ETH also shows that there is certainly trust in the team, which in my opinion is very reasonable. The team seems very solid, and both founders have a great background to rely on.

Apart from the fact that I like the team, the concept and plans are also quite cool. I like the fact that they plan on doing some sort of scholarship, and think this is quite unique.

Lastly, I disliked one thing, and that is the specific focus on non-binary and female participants in web3. First of all, I think this makes it looks like women are in some sort of victim role or disadvantage, which is totally not the case. I don’t conclude this out of thin air, because they literally say it’s a problem that 81% of the current web3 participants are male. I quote: “The problem? 81% of the current participants are male.”

I don’t think this is a problem at all, and I think this way of writing is not good for their image. But maybe I am just making it bigger than they mean it to be, so this does not affect my opinion too much on the end!

All things considered, I like the art, I think the team is very capable and I think the project will perform very well. Personally I am not buying it, nor minting it, simply because I don’t feel like the targeted audience and will not be comfortable holding it.
