Based on novel with the same title, 余命10年 “Yomei 10 Nen” by Ruka Kosaka, tell a story about 20-year-old Matsuri Takabayashi (Nana Komatsu) learns that she only has 10 years to live due to an incurable disease. She decided not to obsessed with living and not to fall in love, but she meets Kazuto Manabe (Sakaguchi Kentaro) at a school reunion. The school reunion part at which she and Kazuto reconnect is believably dowdy. She is faced with a complicated choice, while thinking about how she will recover from his near-impossible illness.

Since the trailer was published, I had high hopes for this film. Nana Komatsu and Sakaguchi Kentaro, who are always successful with the roles they play, and it turns out that my expectations were right. This movie is worth to watch!

At first I thought this was a basic-japanase movie-plot, where the heroine has a disease and then falls in love but will have a sad ending (the experience of watching various Japanese films with very similar plots). However, the plot is not that flat. Two actors who initially have opposite traits and each have their own life goals, then become one goal to live life together. I love how Nana Komatsu can beautifully play the role so deeply. We can feel how Matsuri is trying so hard to stay alive, even though he only has 10 years. She always enjoys and appreciates the time she does, especially with her friends and family.

Her meeting with Kazuto not only showed romance, but there was also a conflict that made the audience feel the emotions they both felt. The cinematic presented from this film is very diverse, from cherry trees that spoil the eyes to piles of snow that support a sad atmosphere in some scenes.

From this movie, I learned a lot about the meaning of appreciating life, appreciating what we have right now and enjoying the time we have with the people love.

Let’s say, even if you hold it, you will still cry when you watch this movie. Matsuri’s persistence in wanting to survive and also some words that made these tears keep falling. To all the cast, I really appreciate the acting. And of course to the production team who have made this film even more beautiful.
