For instance what is Termux and what can I use for?

Termux is an Android terminal emulator and Linux environment app that works directly with no rooting or setup required. A minimal base system is installed automatically — additional packages are available using the APT package manager.(termux.dev)

Termux is a very powerful tool and you can do whatever you want with it, and limit is your imagination and skills. And here a few examples:

  • Development
  • Cyber Security
  • Automation
  • Games
  • News App
  • Desktop

Basically Termux is a small Linux on your device, so the list is almost endless.

To install Termux, you can download the latest build from their github, or from PlayStore (deprecated). The recommended way is through F-Droid. If you Don’t have F-Droid installed, go to https://f-droid.org/ and download the app

F-Droid Website

Click on download button depending on your language, after downloading install and open it

after opening it, refresh the repositories scrolling up

after updating the repositories, click on the search button and search for termux and choose “Termux Terminal emulator with packages”

If Termux is not installed click the install button that will appear

In my case I already have it installed, so it shows me open. During the installation give F-Droid permisson to install apps and continue to install termux. And you’re good to go. now you just have to install termux and do your magic.

open Termux

after opening termux type the following command and press anter

pkg update && pkg upgrade

Type ‘y’ to accept and let it download, (Don’t worry you packages will be smaller lol, I bloated my installation)

Bonus Tip:

After all done type the following command to see Covid-19 reports right on your terminal

pkg install curl && curl -L https://covid19-cli.wareneutron.com/mz

just change mz for your country's, mz stands for Mozambique. Result:

That’s all, see ya!
