LOVE…. SIMPLE YET COMPLICATED….

Love is a very strange emotion. It makes you feel like you are on top of the world yet at the same time it makes you feel like falling down into a bottomless pit. Love is simple yet it’s very complicated.

Love does have various facets. For some love is care, for some it’s friendship, for some well it’s just love. It knows no boundaries, no limitations.

The day Surya met Shona after 11 years, it felt to him as if time stood still. After all he had loved this girl even before he knew what love is. Shona was Surya’s first love. Yet they weren’t together. They had drifted apart 11 years back. Yet, fate brought them back in front of each other after 11 years.

He saw her in the midst of a sea of people. And there she was, the girl whom he had loved all his life. The moment their eyes met, she rushed to him with a beaming smile and hugged him. Even though he had anticipated that something similar was bound to happen, he had never really felt that one simple hug would hit him with such a force. He felt as if all the words left unsaid, all the emotions kept well hidden from him were screaming at him saying she’s the girl you had missed out from your life. Waves of pent up emotions that he had so safely kept in the deepest places of his began resurfacing. Yet he couldn’t tell her at that juncture what he was feeling. Little did he know wt that time that these feelings would hit back at him again with such a force that would make him rethink his mere existence.

They met, they talked. Each of them had so much to tell each other, yet no words came out. The time they spent that day, it was as if they both were I their own little bubble, regardless of all the people around them.

There was immense happiness in Shona’s eyes, and Surya could very well see that. It was shocking yet surprising to him that the girl in front of him, the love of his life, was actually so happy to see him.

“You look so happy, I can see happiness radiating off your face.’’ Surya told her. She smiled and said, “Yes I’m happy, very happy. To have finally met you. After 11 years.’’

There was a tug at his heart, his conscience was trying to tell him that this is the girl, this is her. Make her yours. Yet he pushed back those thoughts because at that time he felt she could never be his. Little did he know that going back after meeting her would bring him face to face with one of the most evident realities of his life.

They left after seeing each other. On the way back home, Surya started thinking, “why am I getting drawn towards her again, why am I thinking of being with her always, why the emotions I had for her 11 years back are resurfacing again, why am I feeling like leaving everything and just sweep her of her feet and build a world of our own?’’. His mind at heart were not in peace. He couldn’t decipher his own emotions.

He decided to take a break and think. Think about what’s happening to him. All those things and events that had happened 11 years back started replaying in front of his eyes like a movie. Everything that bound his thoughts to her, started becoming more and more evident. The first day that he realised that she was important for him, then the day he realised that he had started loving her, the moment that he had proposed her, the feeling of being in love, the fight, they going away from each other.

“I value your happiness more than mine, I can see that you are happy, so I’m choosing to move out of your life Surya.’’ she had said on the day they parted. He wanted to stop her that day, 11 years back. Yet he couldn’t stop her. And the realisation that she had been loving him all along even after she had sacrificed her love for happiness hit him like a ton of bricks. His conscience mocked at him saying, “You idiot, you too have been loving her all along, you were too proud to accept that she’s the one for you. Nobody can love you as much as her. No one, except her has that power to love you immensely, to bring a smile on your face, to make you truly happy.’’

Once he realised this, he couldn’t wait to make her as his. He called her up.

Shona was on her way back from her work. She was surprised to see Surya calling her at this time. She picked up the call, she heard all that she had never expected to hear from the guy whom she had truly loved all her life.

“Shona, I wanna tell you something. I have been fighting with myself and my emotions ever since I have met you. I know I didn’t realise your love for me all along, I was ignorant or maybe even on knowing all of this, I was not ready to admit what I’m going to tell you now. You left me thinking that my absence would make you happy. But you were wrong, totally wrong. You are the one who has the power to hurt me in such a magnitude. Yet you are the only one who can make me truly happy. You are the only one who can live me to such an extent. I can’t live without you in my life anymore. I need you like I need air to breathe and survive. Without you I’m nothing. You complete me Shona. I’m at my best with you around. I know I’m too late in asking you, yet I’m asking you — Will you be my girl, again?’’

Shona was quiet for a moment. The only words that she uttered were “I love you too Surya.”
