A Poem Offering Peace
I know too well, communities that seek to defeat.
We say, ‘I take what is mine.
My politics are perfect. My team is the best.
So give me what is mine, a crown on my head.’
Winning.
I want it. I need it.
But if defeat becomes all I know. My only friend.
Does defeat, defeat me too?
Then I visited a community that gives.
They say, ‘This is mine, please take it.
My vegetables I grow. My art I perform.
They’re yours now too. Now aren’t we friends?’
So I learned, during my visit
Communities that give too
These communities are true.
