Pi Kapp

This past week I attended a scholarship dinner for the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. I meet several nice guys and genuinely started thinking about the possibility of pledging a fraternity (something I hadn’t considered before). At this dinner they invited the few freshman that came to their cocktail that was to be held on Saturday night. As I said eveyone was really cool so I was excited to try things out.

Saturday rolled around and I got a text from the VP of the frat letting me know what our plans were. That evening I went to my date, E’s dorm and we were off to pregame with some of the guys. We got there and were warmly welcomed. I got bombarded with names and hands to shake. I did my best to try to keep eveyone’s name straight. There were a few people there that I already somewhat knew so that was helpful. Shortly after we got to “the quad” as they call it. We headed over to one of the off campus houses, called sunshine, where there were more people. Another thing that happened at sunsine was irish carbombs. They were delicious. We hung out at sunshine longer than we were at the quad. I continued to meet more brothers while I was there. They all seemed to be genuinely nice guys.

Saturday night my college was also throwing a party which we all stopped by because one of the frat brothers was DJ’ing. I had a great time there too. It was a rave theme, there were glow sticks and loud music sets and some colorful performers. I saw some more friends here and it was really nice.

Around midnight or so our group headed to a different off campus house, zoo, for the actual cocktail. I don’t think we were at this house as long. There was music and dancing and more alcohol. It was fun. It was the first real taste of fraternity stuff and I have to say it was pretty fun. Not only because it was just social stuff, but I meet several new people, one of whom has the same major that I am considering and offered to help me get a foot in the door somewhere. All in all I was very impressed with everyone Saturday night.
