I usually visit with the Baby owl in the late afternoon and in the evening.

Lately I have been asked frequently if it was normal for owls to be out and about in daylight. From my personal experience, I would say: Yes.

Today, I decided to test my theory in the morning. I walked to the park at 10 AM; bright light, 92F/33C, 56% humidity. I don’t see “my” baby owl in its usual spot. So, I do my usual: stand still for a few minutes and then I ask in my “cartoonish” voice: “Where is the baby?” Slowly, I start turning around and… a small sleepy head peaks out from behind the leaves and starts walking on a branch towards me. I say hello and talk to the kid a bit and then we look at each other in silence.

Each time I look at the kid I am in awe, in awe how perfect Nature is. Then the baby goes to sleep and I quietly leave. Till later…

And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops — at all — (…)”
