Japanese Guest Teachers for School Year 2018–19

Washington State welcomed guest teachers from Japan this past week! The two will be assisting with the teaching of Japanese in two of our high schools.

  • Ms. Kae Takaoka is assigned to Mountain View High School in Auburn.
  • Mr. Kousuke Takemori will teach at Chief Sealth International High School in Seattle.

The ideas shared at the August 16 visit reflect support of Superintendent Chris Reykdal’s vision for dual language in our state:

“As our state and country become more diverse and more globally interdependent, there is a growing need for all of our students to learn a second language.”

Guest teachers from other countries will help deliver this language-rich vision in Washington state schools. The Japanese guest teachers are sponsored by the Hyogo Business & Cultural Center, led by Mr. Hideaki Kawachi, Executive Director.
