Engaging Engineering Students
What’s the first thing you ever built? For me, it was probably the Rube Goldberg mousetrap in the children’s game. Or was it building blocks?
No matter what it was, making things, building, constructing, visualizing 3D things in an imaginary space, or plane, just wasn’t my bag. It was interesting (for someone else), and I didn’t give it another thought, especially when I realized the math was beyond me. I was a language guy. I speak English, German, and some Spanish. I was much more visually oriented. I was a photographer, though I did enjoy my mad chemist time in the darkroom, too. I was a rebel. I became a teacher, and now I am teaching in Mexico.
