Reading 100+ Books a Year to “Upgrade” Yourself is a Complete Waste of Time

Many excellent points here. My friend calls what I did before (reading an enormous amount of books with little comprehension) being a “self-help junkie.”

Two years ago I accelerated the number of books I read to 105 in a year. My comprehension took a huge hit. The next year I re-read many of the same books simply to remember what they said.

I’ve taken a different approach now: learning and empathy are the goals. I find myself taking more notes, and diving deeper into a concept.

Diving deep has helped me change from a “self help junkie” to an engaged life long learner.
