Based on what? I’ve never been outright attacked, but I can honestly say I’ve had people yell things at me as a pedestrian. I’ve even had people — presumably strangers — throw things at me from their passing cars. I’ve had at least one person pretend to start running me down in their car. Oh, and I’ve also been “cat-called” by drunken women while out walking. So all this stuff about me being far less likely to face misbehavior is straight up BS. And I don’t live in a major city, so I can only imagine what I might face in a more populated area. Plus, look again at the global murder statistic I cited. I technically am more likely to be murdered in general on a global basis (though Japan is one of the few places where women are more likely to be murdered). My intent isn’t even to play the victim card here, but to just encourage people to look at the facts as opposed to emotional, agenda-driven, man-bashing nonsense.
