WAGMI Defense: First Mobile Title in the Immutable Ecosystem with Passport Integration?
Exciting news! We’re thrilled to share that we’re currently integrating the Passport wallet into our flagship game, WAGMI Defense!
Currently in Closed Beta on Google Play, the game will soon soft launch on both Google Play and the App Store. However, one notable challenge in this build has been the custodial wallet solution, Magic Link. While functional, it has caused issues such as difficulties in wallet custody claiming, asset trading, account creation and problems with evolving and scrapping cards.
At the same time, frictionless player onboarding has always been our fundamental priority. That’s where Immutable’s Passport steps in.

In simpler terms, Passport lets users create a WAGMI Defense account effortlessly with a few taps, eliminating the need for a password. It also quietly sets up a custodial wallet in the background to store their digital assets. Current authentication options include Google, Apple, and email sign-ons, offering a smooth onboarding experience.
But here’s the exciting part — Passport addresses the pain points we faced with Magic Link, enabling us to onboard thousands and millions of players with ease, sans passwords and friction.

- Familiarity: Every player worldwide is accustomed to creating game profiles via Google or Apple sign-ons. This allows us to bring non-web3 users into our web3-powered game effortlessly.
- Security: Passport provides a secure custodial wallet, ensuring users maintain control of their digital assets without compromising user experience or gameplay mechanics.
- Interoperability: Creating a Passport wallet in WAGMI Defense enables seamless logins across all games and marketplaces in the Immutable ecosystem. Similarly, gamers from other Immutable games can easily try out WAGMI Defense with just one tap!
WAGMI Defense Timeline
Understanding the challenges we faced, especially in user authentication and wallet solutions, clarifies why we couldn’t proceed faster with our launch plans. Despite a successful Closed Beta with impressive KPIs, issues related to the web2 player’s experience were crucial.
While Immutable’s Passport was introduced earlier this year, its recent release for mobile integration, along with the Unity SDK, has paved the way for external wallet connections. Soon, our players will be able to connect their MetaMask wallet to the app itself, offering practical benefits like ETH payments and $WAGMIGAMES payments (major token utility). Finally, users won’t have to transfer Founder’s or Comicbook cards to their Passport wallet, since they will simply be able to connect their MetaMask wallet to the app. (Hardware wallets that connect to MetaMask will also be supported)
We’re in the process of implementing Passport into WAGMI Defense and anticipate rolling it out later this month. This successful integration unlocks the next stage of our game launch, which will follow shortly. Detailed information about our Game Release Roadmap is available in our Whitepaper.
