Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced that it will be reinstating Donald Trump’s social media accounts in the coming weeks proving yet again that the GOP’s violent intimidation and bullying work to influence America’s institutions.

Nearly two years after the twice-impeached former President planned a violent insurrection against the U.S., in part by using and abusing Facebook, Meta decided to reverse its ban after concluding “the serious risk to public safety that existed in January 2021 has sufficiently receded.” Apparently, the multi-billion dollar company needs to use its considerable resources to Google search what some influential Republicans and Trump allies have been up to for the past few weeks.

Just last month, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is allegedly gunning to be Trump’s Vice President in 2024, bragged at a Republican gala that if she led the Jan 6 insurrection, they would have been “armed” and won. According to a New York Times report published earlier this week, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is now open to investigating the Jan 6 House Select Committee after Rep. Greene told him some of the violent insurrectionists are being “victimized.” Last week, a failed Republican New Mexico candidate, who is an election denier, conspired with three others to shoot at the homes of Democrats.
