Whenever you bring something new into the house — a piece of furniture or new clothing, for example, get rid of something that no longer serves you. Getting rid of it doesn’t mean putting it into storage . . . that stuff is still sucking up your psychic and economic energy if you’ve got to pay for storing it. Instead, throw it out, or give it away. Better yet, practice the “One in, Two out” principle, and you’ll start to feel lighter right away.

Here’s a link to an article by Krista O’Reilly Davi-DguiUse the ‘One In, One Out’ Rule to Live Emotionally Unstuffed.”

Here’s a piece by Faith Durand about applying the principle to kitchen clutter.
