So I hate seeing movies in the theater. I’ll put my art film snob bona fides up against absolutely anyone’s, so come at me, but I find the cineaste obsession with seeing things on the big screen to be precious and mostly pointless. When I was in film school, we would have critical studies classes in a grand old theater, clearly optimized to capture the joys of the golden age, yet I always felt like I was looking at the emperor’s new clothes, while everyone around me feigned rapture.
