Beautiful Borneo, also known as Kalimantan, is the third-largest island in the world and is located in Southeast Asia. It is shared by three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. The island is known for its incredible biodiversity, lush rainforests, diverse cultures, and unique wildlife. Here are some of the highlights of this stunning island:

Borneo’s rainforests are some of the oldest and most diverse in the world. The island is home to a vast array of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. The biodiversity includes various types of flora, fauna, and microorganisms.Borneo is one of the last remaining habitats of the critically endangered Bornean orangutans. These intelligent primates are known for their distinctive red fur and are found primarily in the rainforests of Borneo.

These unique monkeys are known for their large, protruding noses and potbellies. They are endemic to Borneo and can be spotted along riverbanks and in mangrove forests.Borneo is home to a rich tapestry of cultures and ethnic groups, including the Dayak people. Each group has its own unique traditions, languages, and art forms, making the island a cultural melting pot.Borneo features several impressive peaks, including Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia and Mount Meratus in Indonesia. These mountains provide opportunities for trekking and adventure. There are also numerous nature reserves and protected areas where you can experience the island’s natural beauty up close.Borneo has stunning coastal areas with white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Places like Tanjung Datu National Park and the Derawan Islands are perfect for diving, snorkeling, and beach relaxation.

There are various wildlife sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers in Borneo that focus on the conservation of its unique species. Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is a well-known destination for those interested in learning about orangutan conservation efforts.The rivers of Borneo offer opportunities for river cruises and boat trips, allowing visitors to explore the lush landscapes and spot wildlife along the riverbanks.

Borneo hosts a range of cultural festivals and events that showcase its diverse traditions, such as the Gawai Dayak festival celebrated by the Dayak people in Sarawak, Malaysia.The island is known for its traditional crafts, including intricate weaving, wood carving, and beadwork, which are often used to create beautiful textiles and handicrafts.

Day 1 Pangkalan Bun — Tanjung Puting (L,D)
Arrive at Pangkalan Bun and directly transfer to Kumai village for boarding the houseboat to Tanjung Puting National Park. The houseboat is a traditional wooden river boat with roof forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest as it glides by. The boat crew including the boatman, cook and expert guide. In the afternoon, we will slowly explore the quite river by the houseboat while observing the primates along the riverside. In the peaceful evening, we can do night trekking to explore wildlife, such as; tarantula, sleeping birds, frogs, mousedeers, insects, etc. The houseboat facilities; mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled “mineral” water, mosquito net, kitchen, and simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar helpful guides and boatmen. Lunch, dinner and staying overnight on houseboat

Day 2 Tanjung Puting National Park (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we board the houseboat for cruising to Pondok Tanguy to explore the rehabilitation center of the new ex-captive orangutans. Next, return to houseboat for sailing upward the creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. At the station, you have opportunity to trek into the rainforest with your expert guide and forest rangers to appreciate the flora as well as viewing wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds. In the afternoon, we proceed to feeding station to see rehabilitated orangutans are given additional foods. We will then sail back down the river and overnight on houseboat. Lunch and dinner will be served on houseboat.

Day 3 Tanjung Puting — Airtport (B)
Breakfast at houseboat and then cruising down the river into Kumai village while exploring the wildlife on riverside. Afterwards, driving to airport for your flight to next destination.
