I’ll just go straight to it. The average teenager is confused. Confused on what to do in life, where to go, who to be, where to school and that’s just to name a few. Everything is soo confusing and that’s why we mostly give up on making decisions. I mean they are many and quite overwhelming so it’s easier to go with what society tells you. I’m young too and I’ve been there, in fact, I’m still there in a way but let’s just say I’ve gotten ways to cope a bit and I’d like to share them.

Steps on Getting Focused as a Young Individual:

  1. Think and think again
  2. Write them down
  3. Learn and Study
  4. Consider hobbies
  5. Ask as many questions
  6. Plan yourself
  7. You are your first source of encouragement
  8. Don’t overwhelm yourself
  9. Explore other options
  10. Society doesn’t determine your life. Get that!
  11. Think and think again: Your teenage years form a period where you have all the opportunity to think. Think about what you love most, who you think you would love to be, your dream car, your dream life! Humans never stop thinking yes, but now that you are young, you can think all you want without many responsibilities stopping you. So go ahead and think, let your imaginations be as wide as the Atlantic ocean, dream about your future and what you want it to look like. This is so important because this will be what keeps you going when life gets tough!
  12. Write them down: Once you get started on thinking, dreaming and imagining, write all of them down. Don’t like to write much? then record yourself talking about your dreams. No matter how crazy it sounds. Sometimes we get scared to voice out our thoughts to our own selves. Why? let me state a few reasons I’m very much aware of; They sound crazy e.g you want to own a large company and you come from a not so rich family, There’s almost no possible way to achieve the dream (or so you think), you’re scared you’re getting way ahead of yourself, no one’s going to support you and the list goes on and on. It’s inevitable, fear is going to kick in in many ways more than one but still write them, say them, dream them. That’s what helps you begin to shape your mindset, simply writing down what you want to do.
  13. Learn and Study: Andd here’s where it gets boring (I hear someone say). It sounds boring and I get that but what we fail to realize is we passively and actively learn every single day of our lives. Humans are learners, we want to know and most times we seek to find answers to our unending questions.

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.”
— Henry Ford

So here’s the truth, school might make learning boring but you can make it fun for yourself. You need to get to know more about what you want to do. You want to be an Engineer? Then you need to be passionate about it, you need to be consistent, disciplined and have the readiness to learn. You want to be an artist? It’s not easy but you can do it. Learn any way possible. When it gets tough, rest a little and get back to it. Something about those who are successful today is this: even on days when they don’t want to, they still get up and do it. Here’s me saying to everyone out there ‘Just do it’.

4. Consider Hobbies: What I mean by saying consider hobbies is, you need to find time to do things that actually help you relax. For me it’s reading books and drawing. I do it as much as I can allow it. Days when I feel like I’m this close to burning out, I listen to my body and rest. So if playing soccer helps you relax, make time to do that at least once a week.

5. Ask as many Questions: It is important you ask yourself many questions. Those you cannot answer, ask others you feel might know the answers. The goal: don’t voluntarily leave yourself ignorant. Know what you need to know. This is a key to avoiding many mistakes that have been made by others over and over again, the stress of going through a harder method when an easier one exists, and the key to achieving those dreams faster than those who had similar ones. Here’s a post that may help.

okay we’ll be pausing here today. Did you enjoy reading this? Young and confused like I am sometimes? well I love to communicate so please reach out and also let me know how you feel about this in the comment section. If you’ve been able to overcome the many confusions associated with youth, please share your experience in the comment section, we’d love to hear from you.

Till next time Amazingreaderzz!
