I chose John Cage as the reference, and the title I selected was “As the sounds that one listens to when there is silence”. Most of John Cage’s works are based on large amounts of curves and dots to create an abstract feeling, so this is how he expressed sounds. I chose to record sounds at the library of UTS. I used curves to draw the appearance of a building, so it could become the symbol of library. There are patterns of books, and black dots are people reading and studying. The smooth sound ray means the library is quiet, and the fluctuating curves in the middle are the sounds of automatic door, which can be regarded as the gate of the architecture. Loud sounds in library will trouble other people, so quietness is the main theme for library.
