Act your (im)age!

So I thought this writing today was going to be about a thought I’ve been mulling over for a few years now. I was going to talk about the statement from Jesus when he said,

“A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” (John 10:10 MSG)

Now that is a statement to meditate on for a bit huh? What is this “more and better life than they ever dreamed of”? I guess one question is, “What is the life you dream of living?” And could God have a more and better life than that in store for you? Cause if you read that statement again, that is what Jesus CAME to do.

Jesus, at the very least, is giving you permission to dream. So maybe try starting there?

Now if that blows your mind, check out his interaction with the Pharisees that comes a bit farther down in John chapter 10…

31–32 Again the Jews picked up rocks to throw at him. Jesus said, “I have made a present to you from the Father of a great many good actions. For which of these acts do you stone me?”

33 The Jews said, “We’re not stoning you for anything good you did, but for what you said — this blasphemy of calling yourself God.”

34–38 Jesus said, “I’m only quoting your inspired Scriptures, where God said, ‘I tell you — you are gods.’ If God called your ancestors ‘gods’ — and Scripture doesn’t lie — why do you yell, ‘Blasphemer! Blasphemer!’ at the unique One the Father consecrated and sent into the world, just because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I don’t do the things my Father does, well and good; don’t believe me.

“If God called your ancestors ‘gods’ — and Scripture doesn’t lie..”?!?!? WHAT?!?!

How are we supposed to interact with that?

If I were to tell you that I am a god, what would you think of me?

But careful you who would cast the first stone…

26–28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them

reflecting our nature

So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,

the birds in the air, the cattle,

And, yes, Earth itself,

and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”

God created human beings;

he created them godlike,

Reflecting God’s nature.

He created them male and female.

God blessed them:

“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!

Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,

for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

Genesis 1:26–28 (The Message)

So my encouragement to you today is to “Act your (im)age!” Don’t sell your life short for small dreams because Jesus didn’t sell his life short for his dreams for you. Where in your life can you start to dream big? Where in your life can you act like a god? Where in your life can you “Prosper”? Where can you “Reproduce”? In what manner are you “filling the Earth”? Where can you “Take” god-like “charge”?

Is this what God is like? Is this what it looks to be god-like?

Everything I have done has been authorized by my Father, actions that speak louder than words. — John 10:25 (MSG)

ACT your IMAGE. ACTIONS speak louder than words. Don’t tell someone you are a god…show them you are a god.

The religious will want to kill you either way, so have fun with that.
