An old age home that needs our attention
Pakistan has various religious minorities.In which Hindus and Christians contributes most to the population. Religious discrimination in Pakistan is a serious issue for the human rights situation in modern-day Pakistan.
There are alot of welfares working for the minorities that are ignored by many of us.As the welfares and trusts rely on our Zakat,Fitrah,Sadqa and Khairat.
Only poor and needy Muslims are eligible for wajib sadaqah i.e. zakah and sadaqah al-fitr etc. provided they are not Sayyids. Zakat and Fitrah cannot be given to a non-Muslim whether he is poor. However you may give him help and gift etc but unfortunately our help still cannot reach to our minorities.Ignorance to our other religion brothers is causing massive discrimination among the nation.
All of these thoughts made me look towards an organization that may need help from their fellow Muslim brothers.
St. Vincent’s Home for the Aged
St. Vincent’s Home for the Aged is situated off the main Shara-e-Faisal. It is a home for the very poor and destitute. It was inaugurated by Cardinal Joseph Cordeiro, Archbishop of Karachi 12'sept 1960.
Sister Fazeelat Inayat, an administrator at the facility there once said in an interview “I often fear that we might have to close down due to the increasing expenses. But then what will happen to these residents, where will they go. The thought makes me shudder.”
Unfortunately they have to charge a great deal for individuals because of less funds and help.I have seen their ambulances on roads filled with sadness ,very few people visit them a friend of mine went there told me that they were so happy to see us with the sense that they are remembered by some still .Those wrinkled hands and wet eyes were so overwhelmed.
Some of the inhabitants of the old home have chosen to live at the facility voluntarily once their children settled abroad, others did not have much of a choice.Some of them are happy that there is a place to look after them at this age and some of them are coping with grief of being left behind.
They have same needs as every other old age home and needs our attention like other old age shelters.
The idea is to HELP OUR MINORITIES WHO ARE BEING NEGLECTED INSTEAD OF BEING A PART OF OUR SOCIETY AND END RELIGION DISCRIMINATION WHEN IT COMES TO HELPING THE PEOPLE IN NEED.
I wasn’t able to go there myself but asked people who have been there.They equally need our help and love. We can help people in need there and also make others aware of such welfares in need ,proving ourselves as a peaceful nation that is free from religion discrimination.Lets support white part of our flag too.
