April 1st, 2017

(Also known as APRIL FOOLS DAY)

I’ll get right to it: Blackbox is being acquired by Chinese advertising mediator AdBuybuy. This is a bittersweet day, but should be a good one for anyone who wants (needs) more puzzles. I will be continuing as the core developer of Blackbox albeit with much better resources that’ll help me release more challenges at a faster pace than before and for cheaper, sans burritos!.

The first set of new challenges coming out will be a kind of real world challenge: sponsored check-ins. By checking into sponsored locations and completing real world goals you’ll get a QR code you can scan to complete challenges! Hint: the first one launching this summer can be solved at a certain popular fast-food restaurant by submitting a photo of fries arranged into a certain iconic shape on a special paper placemat… Soon to follow are challenges involving cool sporting events, helpful laundry products, and a super cool line of boutique vegan condiments.

The close buttons may or may not be a meta challenge, but tapping the ads definitely is.

Not all challenges will have sponsorship though, most will just have 30 second video ads every 30 seconds (which should encourage faster puzzle solving!) and the grid will now show banner ads on some or all of the edges.

This is really just the beginning of what’s possible with sponsored content inside of Blackbox and I can’t wait to see all the places you go and things you’ll eat but didn’t really want to in the name of puzzle solving.

April 1st, 2017 will go down as a momentous day in Blackbox’s history not only as the day I wrote a really bad Medium post but one where I concluded it all by actually releasing a new challenge…… 😘 Update is out!!!

⚠️ THIS IS A JOKE!! PLZ STOP WRITING ME ANGRY EMAILS. THANKS!

P.S. Please don’t 💚 this terrible article unless you’re a terrible person.

P.P.S. Please do (re)post your review of Blackbox! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (I’ll be responding to as many as I can today :)
