Ladies’ Choice: NYC Best places to watch men watch the World Cup

Do women like the World Cup? Sure we do… Find out where to best watch men watch the World Cup.

What is this read about? WMWWC (Watch men watch the World Cup) is a project of a Single woman currently enjoying life in the Big Apple. As a German native and avid global jet-setter the reviewer is well familiar with the appeal the World Cup has to men and has been an enthusiastic visitor of public viewing events for many years. Keen to explore and discover the best venues to meet men in NYC she set off on a journey through the Global Village. Wondering whether to share her valuable insights with competing Single women (or men) she decided to do it anyway!!

Pre-word of the editor:

Do women like the World Cup? Sure we do… especially when it comes to watching men watch the World Cup!

For many of us the World Cup does not appeal or even is a bother… But in a city where meeting good men can be a challenging matter, we should not overlook the opportunity which comes with Public Viewing parties for international sports events. We appreciate the opportunity to meet men and the World Cup provides a good casual setting to get together. Hence, the editor of this review ventured out to visit some of the Big Apples’s Public Viewing places to get a first hand impression from the “female point of view”!

Find here part 1 of the review (ratings from * to *****):

MANHATTAN — SoHo
Trendy SoHo with its numerous bars and restaurants hosts several good public viewing options in an accessible area. This makes SoHo a very good area to explore several public viewing events in the course of one match — if you are in the mood for it! Should you decide that World Cup Public Viewing is not for you, it is more than convenient to escape to one of the numerous shops and art galleries for alternative entertainment.

Novecento **** 343 W Broadway, New York, NY 10013, (212) 925-4706 http://www.novecento.com

Cute place in SoHo. Best go when Argentina or another South American team is playing as this seems to be the place that draws a good-looking Latin crowd. Obviously, good flirt factor and numerous options of equally good public viewing places are just a cat’s leap away.

Felix **** 340 W Broadway, New York, NY 10013, (212) 431-0021 http://felixnyc.com/soho/

This is another inviting venue just across the road from the Novecento. Crowded but no skin -next to-skin- mingeling. Many of the men appeared to be Latin too. After the match quite a few of the guests jumped up from their seats and danced to Latin tunes. A couple of male eye candies spotted. For sure worth a stop by.

Brinkleys ** 406 Broome Street, New York, NY 10003, (212) 680-5600 http://www.brinkleysbroomestreet.com/home

This place is a straightforward SoHo sports bar. During the summer season the fruity Pimm’s cocktail has been recommended as a favorite ladies’ drink. Other than that, the place cannot be recommended for exciting men-watching by the reviewer. But you might have more luck than the reviewer if you decide to go there anyway.

I know ladies…But you will not see men like that at Oficina Latina

Oficina Latina**
24 Prince St, New York, NY 10012, (646) 381-2555 http://www.oficinalatinanyc.com

Pleasant place with trendy ambience in the middle of SoHo. Especially enjoyed the eclectic interior design and its Latin vibes. The small cocktail list looked original and the bar tender was quite charming. But during the World Cup best just go there if you already have a date and an interest to watch soccer over dinner. Not to watch male guests…

MANHATTAN — LOWER EAST SIDE

Not so many popular Public Viewing places have been heard of in the Lower East Side area at this point. However, there is one place which can be highly recommended. It is easy accessible too from the SoHo area — so best check it out yourself!

Loreley *****

7 Rivington St, New York, NY 10002, (212) 253-7077, http://www.loreleynyc.com/

Loreley in LES: Highly recommended for men-watching #nycviewingworldcuploreley

Nice nice nice. Male eye-candies available for any taste. Mainly American and German dudes. Go! Especially worth a try in the evenings or when the Germans are playing. In any case, you will enjoy the nice ambience and the small beer garden at the back-side of the restaurant.

But: Pay attention to whether the man of your desire is in company of a woman — jealous German girlfriends are not to mess with!

Tip: For dessert let your flirt take you to the pretty ice cream-parlor across the street as they offer a selection of original and sensuous flavors such as champagne-sorbet.
