How to Motivate Yourself to Keep Exercising

Although you can still lose weight without exercising, it’s still an important activity for your overall health.
According to the Mayo Clinic, not only does exercise reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases, it also improves mood, boosts energy, and promotes better sleep.
The US Department of Health and Human Services reports that less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. And only one in three adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week
However, after you’ve attended to all your work responsibilities, your family responsibilities, and your personal responsibilities, it can feel that the last thing in the world you want to do is go out and exercise.
Here are 4 simple best tips for staying motivated while exercising.
1. Get an Exercise Buddy
It is impossible to keep yourself motivated 100 percent of the time, so it’s nice to have someone else to rely on. They can help get you out for a morning walk to boost your metabolism. Plus, having an exercise buddy will challenge you to exercise more regularly.
2. Join an Exercise Group
Cities all over the country have different sorts of exercise clubs that are easy to join. It’s a great way to get out of the house (and your place of work), meet new people, and burn fat.
3. No Exercise Group in Your Area?
Make one yourself.
Invite all of your friends and family to get together once or twice a week to exercise with one another. Make it fun and enticing by adding on an extra activity at the end. After your group is finished exercising, plan to go out for a beer, see a movie, or whatever else might motivate you and your friends.
4. Join a Local Gym
There are several gyms in both the Eau Claire and Wausau areas. You can easily find one that specifically fits your geographic, financial, and physical needs.
Even if your company or school has a gym that is free for you to use, consider getting a gym membership anyway. It’s difficult to justify not going to the gym once you start paying for it every month.
Essentially, even if you hate to exercise, try to find a way to make it more attractive and enjoyable. That can mean finding an exercise buddy, watching a movie with your exercise group after you exercise, or investing in a gym membership.
It doesn’t matter how you stay motivated to exercise — do whatever works best for you.
